Dermol 500 Lotion

What we love about this product

This product is a moisturising lotion that forms a barrier on the skin and stops water from evaporating. This hydrates dry, rough, or irritated skin.

Dry and itchy skin are common problems encountered with the menopause. When oestrogen levels drop, the skin is less able to retain moisture.  This is because the skin’s natural hydrating mechanism weakens, as the levels of ceramides, hyaluronic acid and sebum decline. A moisturiser can help alleviate dryness and itching. Regular use of a moisturiser may also protect the skin barrier and reduce irritation.

This product can also be used for washing and bathing. As it does not contain soaps or foaming agents, it does not dry your skin out when washing or bathing like normal soaps and hand cleansers do. As it contains antimicrobial ingredients, it can help cleanse the skin and reduce bacteria on the skin. This can be used for washing hands too for those with sensitive hands.

Backed by science

Moisturising lotions are known to help dry skin and reduce itch. Moisturisers are also regularly used as soap substitutes for those with dry skin conditions.

Ingredients

Benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride are antimicrobials
These help to combat bacteria present on your skin that can make eczema worse. They help to prevent infection caused by scratching itchy skin. They also help cleanse the skin thoroughly when using Dermol 500 as a hand wash or soap substitute.

Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate are emollients
When used as a leave on product, emollients trap moisture in the skin and stop your skin from drying out. This helps improve the skin barrier function and reduce itch.

How to use

If you have dry skin, use it as a soap substitute and apply two to three times a day or as directed by your physician.

If you have normal skin, then use it as a morning and night-time moisturiser. It can be used before applying make-up or sunscreen.
