Bangor Charity joins forces with balance, the free menopause support app

Canolfan Abbey Road in Bangor has joined forces with balance, the free menopause support app to ensure that vital evidence-based information about menopause can be accessed in Welsh.

Chief Officer Fiona Owens said:

“Menopause, a hormone deficiency, affects half the population.  Symptoms are many, complex and unique to each individual and include effects on memory and mental health.  Information is key for managing any health issue and we are delighted to be able to ensure that it can be accessed in Welsh.  The balance app is a key instrument in educating us all in what is still an under researched area of our health and is available for free wherever you download your apps”.

Menopause can be treated medically, with hormone replacement therapy, and further supported through exercise, relaxation, mindful activity, counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy. As a community hub supporting better mental health some of these supportive activities can be accessed via Abbey Road.

Balance said “At balance, we’re on a mission to make menopause support inclusive and accessible to all. Women, trans and non-binary people should not have to put up with debilitating symptoms that affect daily life, work, relationships and future health. Gaining access to a quicker menopause diagnosis and appropriate treatment can be facilitated by information and knowledge, and this is why we are passionate about translations so we can help more people across the world.”
