What we love about this product

Retinol is derived from Vitamin A and has been shown known to improve skin quality and texture. As it works independently of Oestrogen, it can help both pre, peri and post menopausal women including those on HRT.

When oestrogen levels drop with the menopause, there is a drop in the collagen levels in the skin too. This causes thinning of the skin and signs of ageing such as wrinkles. Retinol can help boost your own collagen production in the skin and so can help reduce the signs of ageing if used consistently.

Retinol helps improve the appearance of fine lines over time. Retinol may even help reduce some forms of pigmentation and brighten the skin tone.

Backed by science

A number of vehicle controlled double blind clinical studies have been published to show the benefits of retinol.

Ingredients

Retinol
activates the retinoid receptors in the nucleus of cells in the skin cells to boost collagen levels which improves skin structure. Retinols also boost natural levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin, which enhances water retention in the skin, making it more plump.

Climbazole
has been shown in laboratory studies on cells to boost the effect of retinol.

Vitamin E
is a minor ingredient here and has a small hydrating and antioxidant effect.

How to use

Ease yourself into using Retinol gently otherwise irritation can occur. Apply Retinol at night after using a very hydrating cleansing regime. Use the lowest concentration first, only twice a week for 3 weeks, then alternate nights for three weeks then nightly.

If your skin can handle this, then move to the next step and repeat. You may find the eyelids and neck can only take 0.3% three times per week while the face can handle 1% nightly. You will need to invest some time in working out how best to adjust your regime.
