Example Letter to GP requesting HRT
Some people are not confident approaching their GP or have found it challenging to obtain the help they need. Below is an example of a letter that has been used with good success, for ladies who are struggling with their GP prescribing HRT.

Dear Dr [name]
Please don’t think I am trying to tell you your job because I am not. I really respect you; you listen, you are very thorough, you have excellent people skills and you always show compassion and empathy. I am writing as I would really like to take HRT.
I feel I have a good knowledge of the menopause as I have read information on Menopause Support website balance-menopause.com and that of their medical advisor Dr Louise Newson, a GP who specialises in the menopause. I have also read through the NICE guidance on menopause www.nice.org.uk/guidance.
I would really appreciate it if the practice would consider me having HRT as I know the benefits of HRT are more likely to outweigh any risks for me.
Please can you contact me when you have read this letter and looked at the NICE guidelines to let me know if there is any other way you can support me? If there is no other option available via my GP, then I may have to look at what other options are available to me so I can try and address the symptoms I am experiencing and move forward.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this letter; I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Yours sincerely,
